New Bedroom Curtains and Curtain Tips
I recently shared our little bedroom makeover. Part of the makeover included these curtains, but these aren't just ordinary curtains. These are blackout curtains, and at just $10 each at Wal-mart, my husband is now calling them, "one of the best purchases I've ever made!"
If you've never heard of blackout curtains, here are a few of the benefits:
- It makes your room super dark! (Perfect if you're sleeping late, if you have a night shift worker or a daytime napper in your house.)
- It helps reduce noises coming from the outside.
- And it can also help keep your room cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter.
Now here's a great tip that I came up with! Someone in my house (I'm not going to say any names. Let's just say it's a male.) always has to have the ceiling fan on while sleeping. I've gotten kind of used to it by now, but the fan made the new curtains blow back and forth, which is highly annoying and defeats the purpose of having blackout curtains.
To hold the curtains in place, I used Command Picture Hanging Strips. These things are awesome! I placed two or three on each side of the curtains, attaching them to the window frame. This was done is less than 5 minutes. The strips are easily removable. And the best part is this has worked perfectly to keep the curtains in place and closed!

Oh, we LOVE blackout panels in our house. In fact, the room my girls share, we have a custom made Bali blind (it wasn't cheap, but worth every penny) black out mini blind, black out panels and curtains up to their window. Every bedroom in our house has blackout panels of some sort.
